Nicolas Petit has done something very unexpected in the Ididarod race. Petit has scratched from the race. Petit was in 3rd place when he did. The reason of the matter was his dogs were acting very weird, like when they weren't on ice they were running as it was ice. But the people that came to pick them up after he scratched said the dogs were just fine. But Petit after said his dogs were having dietary issues. When Petit finally after the race got the dogs food, some had issues with it. Petit scratched at 8:45 P.M. on Saturday.



On Friday the 7th Nicolas Petit is in 7th place at the checkpoint Ruby. Petit has now taken his 24 hour brake which means his only brake that he required to take is his 8 hour. Nicolas has lost one dog which means he has 15 dogs left. Only 8 other contestants have 16 dogs, none of those 8 are in the top 10. That means Petit is tied for the most dogs in the top 10 with 2 other people.The distance traveled by Petit is 484 miles. Nicolas is racing pretty well but is it good enough to win?

Nicolas Petit has been racing pretty exceptionally in the 2014 Iditarod from Alaska. Nicolas stayed in 2nd pretty consistently to the afternoon of Tuesday. Nicolas was in front of Martin Buser most of that time. But then in the evening of Tuesday he dropped to 4th place. On Wednesday (3/5/2014) he went down again to 6th place. Nicolas is now at the checkpoint Ophir. Petit has not taken his 24 hour nor his 8 hour brake. Nicolas has 16 dogs left, Wednesday 5, 2014.
